Based in Houston, the band formed when the members found they share the same love of Irish music and the same ideas about how the music is best presented.
The band’s goal is to perform the music in a lively and creative manner but still remain true to the ancient Irish tradition.
The Jig is Up! features the flute playing of Larry Mallette, whose 25 years in the tradition have made him the band’s musical historian. The band’s fantastic fiddle player, Diehl Moran, provides both grace and drive. Judd Heartsill’s dynamic accordion and melodeon fill out the group’s big sound and help supply the “nyah” to the dance tunes. Robert Shaddox, with his clear tenor voice, is the band’s main vocalist, and his expert bodhrán (Irish frame drum) drives the dance numbers. Matt Lewis solidifies the arrangements with his rhythmic guitar playing, plays dynamic flute and whistle, and provides innovative vocals.
Whether playing flute tunes from Sligo and Roscommon, fiddle tunes from Clare, or polkas and slides from the southwest of Ireland, The Jig is Up! is sure to set your feet to tapping.

What our fans are saying -
“They are seriously good musicians… The 80 people packed in the house all fell in love with the band. … It felt like a family feast in an Irish home. They made it perfect.” J Kelly
“I was caught-up-in another great performance by The Jig is Up! last Saturday night. The group is relatively new, but all the members are experienced and excellent musicians. Jigs, polkas, slides, mazurkas, songs beautifully and “effortlessly” performed belying their complexity and musical depth. My Imperial edict is: Do your ears and eyes a favor. See, hear and support this group whenever and wherever you can!” B Norton
